that can process images and return rich information. eMAM uses Microsoft Azure Computer Vision API and Face API to automatically extract insights
and generate rich metadata (text, faces, emotions, objects etc.) packages for
every image asset in your digital library.
Microsoft Azure Computer Vision
uses images processing algorithms to detect objects, celebrities
and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to detect both printed and handwritten
texts from images such as receipts, posters, business cards, letters, and
whiteboards. Images can be analyzed to detect below:

2.
Live Capture workflows
: eMAM Live
supports live capture, logging, edit and delivery of media for corporate and
sporting events.
eMAM now
supports real- time live workflows with SDI and HDMI outputs. Cloud and
on-premise systems can capture live feeds, log, edit and deliver media during
the capture process. Live recording assets can be ingested, previewed and
played real time in eMAM using a third-party player, Net-X-Player (from Drastic
Technologies) for the live previews. Real time captures from network IP video
sources to TS, MP4, MXF, etc. files are ingested into eMAM and previewed using
the Drastic Net X Player that can play the timecoded, frame accurate files,
including RTIN real time files during recording. eMAM uses Net-X-Code from
Drastic Technologies as a new Transcoder type for ingest and delivery.
Using
POST method in REST API, a new asset is created in eMAM with LIVE flag as true.
This API call passes details like original and proxy file locations, http path to RTIN (Real Time Index) file
and this asset will be marked as a live asset in eMAM. A new option has been
introduced in eMAM Director interface to display the live assets with a “.Live” icon (Live flag true) in the Browse widget. When any Live
asset is clicked upon, eMAM loads Drastic Net-X-Player instead of the traditional
eMAM HTML5 player and also loads the RTIN as the source to support the LIVE
streaming/playback.
Major highlights of these live assets
are:
ü
Live previews: Live Preview of growing video stream using
Drastic Net X player under the Preview widget.
ü
Rough cut editing in eMAM Director. You can add markers to
the live streaming assets. Also, create subclips from these live assets and
deliver them.
ü
Quickly generate highlights and delivery media craft editing
with Adobe Premiere Pro to social media and VOD platforms.
There is
also an option to force stop the live streaming from the Settings button of the Drastic player. If
the stop operation is confirmed, the live assets is converted to a normal eMAM
asset.
). Also,
shortcut keys are:
ü
Click on “J” for video step backward.
ü
Click on “L” for video step forward.
ü
Click on “K” for video pause.
The
Drastic Net X Player is a HTML5 browser-based player that can play the live
recordings optimized for post-production use. Net-X-Player’s main features
include:
• Frame accurate seeking
• Timecode support
• Extended playback controls
• Full keyboard control
• Custom event generation
eMAM 5.1 version adds a new feature
to schedule your workflows. With this
workflow scheduler feature, you can now schedule the execution date and time
for a series of workflow actions for an asset using the schedule metadata
field. Scheduled workflows can be used to execute actions including delivery,
archive, AI indexing, asset purging, changing metadata, API/Email notifications
and managing categories/projects. If all the conditions are met, the scheduled
workflow action will be performed at the specified date and time.
Note: These
actions are not recurring: they are
singular events for a specific asset which will be executed one time only.
To create a scheduled workflow, you
need:
·
“Schedule”
Metadata field type
:
Create a new metadata field with “Schedule” as the metadata
type in the Admin Tools page.
·
Define
Date and Time for “Schedule” metadata field

workflow actin under the Metadata widget.
·
“Scheduler” Event Type
: A new Event
type “Scheduler” has been introduced, u
sing which, you can create a workflow and set
the conditions and timing to perform a specific action.
For e.g.: Lets create a scheduled
workflow to move image assets to XYZ category on 20th Feb 2019, 9:00
am:
a.
In the Admin Tools page, create a Metadata field with Schedule as metadata field type and
associate it with a Metadata Group and Metadata Set.
e.g.: Embargo Date>DIST
Series>DHX
b.
In the Super Admin
interface, create a workflow with Event Type-
Scheduler, Asset type equals
images, Action type- Manage
Category, Operation Type- Move, To Category- select XYZ category from the
drop-down.
Workflow: Images to be moved to XYZ category on 20th
Feb 2019, 9:00 am.
c.
In the eMAM Director Interface, under Metadata widget, go to
the Metadata group tab. In the Schedule Metadata field, select 20th
Feb 2019 from the calendar and enter time as 9:00. Click on Save Metadata,
d.
On meeting all the conditions, automatically this workflow
will get executed on 9:00 am 20th Feb 2019 and this asset will be
moved to XYZ category.
Note
: Scheduled
workflow will be executed only for those assets which have the Schedule metadata value set.
Similarly, multiple workflows can be created using
workflow schedulers. You
can make use of our latest Notification to
REST API feature for the scheduled workflows too. Scheduled workflows
can be combined with Notify (Action type) to notify REST API using POST
method in the workflow management. For more
info on REST API notifications, refer: Page

file from S3 to make clips.
Listed below are the new changes
in the eMAM Director UI:
1.
:
A new widget “Compare” has been introduced to play and compare two
different videos side-by-side. The Compare
widget is divided into a left panel and a right
panel. Just drag and drop videos into the two panels to compare them.
There is a common play back button to play both the videos simultaneously. Only
one video audio is enabled at a time for sound, so you can toggle between the two
audio tracks.
: Empress has
introduced new features in the Transcript widget for an enhanced user
experience like import and export of subtitles in WebVTT/SRT formats.

in following formats WebVTT, SRT, JSON and XML. Just click on any format to
download transcripts in that format.
D.
Import Transcript
: Asset transcripts can now be
imported in two formats WebVTT and SRT. Select the .vtt or .srt file from your
machine and upload the transcripts.
: A “Project Asset” is a placeholder
for eMAM projects. These placeholders can be linked to the project files
associated with the project. “Project Asset” has no link to the assets or
sequences of the actual project. It only represents the project and not its
components. If we add a “Project Asset” to a category, it does not add the
linked projects contents to the category; In case of purge- if a “Project
Asset” is purged, it removes the project file associated with it and not the
actual project or the whole assets under that project. But if the linked
project is deleted from the Projects widget, the “Project Asset” associated
with it will be deleted from eMAM. “Project Asset” concept is supported for
projects created from eMAM and Premiere panel.
When a project is created in the eMAM Director
interface, a project asset gets created in the Browse widget and is not
associated with any physical project file. The “Project Asset” will be just a
link to that project, without any actual project file behind it. Project asset
can be associated with Categories and Storage profiles. It will be
displayed as a Project asset
(placeholder) under the Browse widget.

6.
Emotion Detection and Language identification
:
eMAM uses Microsoft Video Indexer’s cognitive
analysis features to detect emotions and automatically identify the language
spoken in the video assets. The emotions
detected are anger, contempt, disgust, fear, happiness, neutral, sadness and
surprise. These emotions are understood to be cross-cultural and universally
communicated through common facial expressions.
Video Indexer can now automatically identify the spoken
language of the indexed videos without providing a specific language. Currently,
it supports nine languages including English, Chinese, French, German,
Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese. It works with high
accuracy for high-to-mid quality recordings.

o
Project files
are now treated as eMAM assets
: When a project is exported back into eMAM, the
project files are ingested to eMAM as an asset with UUID name and are mapped to
the eMAM Project asset as a new version. Since the Project files are
automatically saved as assets in the eMAM system, you need not save them
separately in other storage locations. They can now be archived, restored and
purged like any other asset in the eMAM system.
2.
Local
Transcoding using AME
:
Empress has introduced two new transcoding
options in the Premiere panel, Server
Transcoding and Local Transcoding

IP as a different IP and not localhost.
will load the ingest profiles
configured with the AME transcoder and AME IP as localhost. Utilizing local
transcoding and Adobe Media Encoder as the transcoder, every job submitted to the
media encoder will make its respective proxy, thumbnails and mezzanines files
in the Panel itself. Using direct copy/upload manager/Flight CLI, the panel
uploads the files into their respective folders.
eMAM now also supports image transcoding for Local
transcoding using AME. Just add eMAMImage.epr at AME preset folder in the Gateway
for proxy creation. This preset will be downloaded to local machine and can be used
for further transcoding.
Localization using Flight CLI: eMAM is now tightly integrated with Amazon S3 and Signiant File
Transfer acceleration to expedite the export and import of assets into and out
of the Amazon S3 storage buckets. The eMAM Premiere Panel uses Signiant Flight
CLI when Adobe Media Encoder is selected as the transcoder for export. Signiant
Flight CLI is used to upload the original, proxy, mezzanine and thumbnails to
their corresponding S3 buckets. However, if SigCLI is not configured, you can
still move the assets to S3 buckets using S3 connector. When assets in S3
buckets are selected for import under Project/Category/Bin/Asset tabs, Signiant
Flight is used to localize and download original and mezzanine copies.
: A
new
settings window will allow users to sync all the default AME presets from the media
encoder to the eMAM panel. Just click on the Sync
icon (as shown below) adjacent to
the Transcoding type to sync the
presets and users can use these default presets for encoding the sequences from
Premiere project.

In addition to individual side car
delivery, EMPRESS has now introduced group sidecar delivery in the eMAM system.
These configuration level changes can be made in the Super Admin interface> Delivery Profiles tab. Similar to
individual delivery, you can define sidecar content for a group delivery such
as: file name (can choose from dropdown
variables), file type (XML/JSON/TXT), Profile level variables and
individual asset level variables.
Delivery notifications can be enabled to
notify through email/post or URL method:
A single xml/json/text file will be
generated for all the assets delivered.
:
In
addition to the eMAM Director interface, eMAM now adds an option to “Keep source folder structure at designation”
at Super Admin level. A new checkbox has been introduced under the Delivery Profiles>Manage Delivery
Profiles>Delivery Profile tab. Enable this option to deliver the
assets so that the source folder hierarchy is maintained. This will help
deliver entire folder, along with its assets and sub folders to any
destination.
