eMAM introduced the File Indexing option in eFeeder for indexing assets. This article explains how to install, register, and use eFeeder for file indexing.
eFeeder Installation
Install eFeeder
Log in to Director and Click on your Profile.
Navigate to Accounts → Apps.
Locate eFeeder, Both Windows and Mac versions are available there.
Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation.
- Register eFeeder
After installation, click the Register button to register the eFeeder.
A pop-up window will appear. In this pop-up, you will have the option to open the eFeeder.
File indexing
eFeeder will open, and you will now see the new option to index files as shown below.
Now click on the 'Index files' option. You will be prompted to browse the folder/files.
You can select the folder from there.
Once you browse the folder/files, you need to choose the index option. We have two index options:
1: - If you choose Index from Source, the files will be indexed directly from their existing storage location.
2: - If you choose Copy and Index, eFeeder will first copy the files to eMAM storage and then perform the indexing from there.
Now you need to select the XML ingest profile and add metadata.
Once you select the ingest profile, category, and add metadata as per your requirements.
Please click on the 'Save' button.
Then you will receive a pop-up:
File(s) uploaded successfully. Please check the dashboard for the ingest status.
Now the system will generate an XML and place it into the ingest folder.
The system will process the XML for ingesting the files, and you can verify the same from the dashboard.
